On January 20, 2021, the Diocese of Bacolod celebrates the Solemn Feast of St. Sebastian, Patron Saint of the Diocese of Bacolod.

In his homily, Bishop Buzon took notice of the "austere" and "sober" mood of the celebration as this happened during the time of the Covid 19 Pandemic.

He, however, noted the providential character of the celebration, which for him happened within the far bigger celebration of the 500th anniversary of the introduction of Christianity to the Philippines and within the week after the Feast of the Santo Niño.

The Bishop invited the people to notice the faith that St. Sebastian lived and witnessed to in a situation that is 'peligroso'. Bishop Buzon described St. Sebastian's faith as one which is 'pinakamasanag' kag 'pinakamataas' that he was willing to lay down his life in the name of this faith.

The Bishop added, that this is the faith that the Filipinos also received and witnessed to with the introduction of the image of the Santo Niño years ago. For Bishop Buzon, the image, being more than just a gift from Magellan or from Spain is "a sign of God's greatest gift of faith to the Filipino people.”
