The Diocesan Commission on Social Communications organized a 'reunion' and 'lecture-workshop' for Diocesan Social Communications (SocCom) Correspondents last February 14, 2021.
The whole day activity was held at the DYAF Radio Station.
The seminar was composed of inputs and updating on news and feature writing, photo-journalism, basic interview and reporting skills and tips on maximizing the use of cellphones for the communications ministry of the Diocese.
Ms. Chona Gosiaoco, DYAF Station Manager, reminded the participants of the crucial role that they play in breaking news from ‘the peripheries’ in the Diocese. Ms. Gosiaoco encouraged the correspondents to capture the stories in their respective parishes and chaplaincies and present them using the media channels of the Diocese like DYAF Radio and the ADSUM and DYAF Facebook pages.
On the other hand, DYAF Head of Production and ADSUM Balita anchor Ms. Julie Ann Gonzales gave practical tips on photo-journalism. According to her, a good picture should always tell a story and arouse emotions and questionings on the part of its audience.
Diocesan Social Communications Director, Rev. Fr. Roy Christian D. Gesulgon also took the occasion to introduce SocCom plans and activities in line with the Diocesan calendar for the commemoration of 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines.
“This [event] is just for us to regroup. Expect that there will be succeeding meetings to reorganize ourselves and to be present in the vicariates so that we can truly capture the stories of the parishes and chaplaincies which in turn will be our concrete contributions to the national celebration of 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines”, Fr. Gesulgon said.
Twenty-five (25) SocCom Correspondents from all over the Diocese attended the seminar.
