  • January 25, 2022

After the conduct of Vicariate Synodal Orientations throughout the Diocese until November of last year, the local synodal process has entered into its Consultation Phase.

Ongoing are the synodal consultations in the level of the chaplaincies and parishes throughout the Diocese.

The first to have conducted a parish consultation was the Sto. Niño Parish of Brgy. Pahanocoy-Aning Bacolod City led by Rev. Fr. Dominic M. Derramas, JCD, parish priest.

According to Fr. Derramas, the parish consultation was held last December 4, 2021 and was attended by 50 parish workers and lay leaders.

As of January this year, the Diocesan Synodal Team Office has also reported a number of diocesan-level consultations with the religious congregations, diocesan lay organizations and sectors.

The Synod on Synodality was solemnly declared opened by Rome last October 2021. Bishop Buzon locally inaugurated the process last October 17, 2021 through a declaration made at the San Sebastian Cathedral.

The motto of the Synod is “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission”.
